Product Description

Do you think that registered sex offenders are the scum of the Earth, creepy guys hanging out near schools and parks leering at small children just waiting for the opportunity to pounce? Well, sadly some are. But there are a whole lot of people on the sex offender registry that you might think don't belong on it, and even more out there who you would wish were. Can you trust law enforcement and the judicial system? Do you believe everything counselors say? What is your understanding of Constitutional rights of the accused? Could you imagine that one parent would be able to use the judicial system to alienate their children from the other parent? Do you think that pedophiles are only adult males and that Catholic priests are the only ones in the church who hurt children? How I Became A REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER is a heartbreaking story about a man who survived a childhood filled with abuse only to have it come back to haunt him and his family in the worst ways. This book will give you a new perspective on life, family, justice and hope.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author My greatest appreciation goes out to Tante Waileka for her wonderful review.  I took your suggestions to heart and re-published the book and placed the focus on the point of the story, the legal battle. And, by the way, I am currently gathering material, thanks to my ex-wife, for what will hopefully become my next book, which will focus on my custody battle. Finally, I have begun to raise funds and begin the planning process for producing a documentary film that will expose the realities of the sex offender registry because mine is but one of thousands of sad stories. About the Author Eric Robert Smith was born on February 26, 1970, in Butte, Montana to Frank and Theresa Smith who were separated at the time and divorced shortly after. Theresa moved Eric and his older sister Christi to Billings, Montana where they grew up. During summers, Eric and Christi spent most of their time with their grandparents Robert and Raquel Lohe in Butte, and part of their time with their father in Osburn, Idaho. Eric tells people he grew up in Billings but is from Butte where he has always felt a strong connection to the community and surrounding areas. After graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1988, Eric joined the United States Coast Guard. Following his completion of boot camp in Cape May, New Jersey Eric was stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Venturous out of Terminal Island in Long Beach, California. After nine months aboard ship, he attended Radioman school in Petaluma, California where one week before his graduation he experienced his first real earthquake in 1989 while he was literally “on the pot”. Eric was stationed at Coast Guard Group San Francisco on Yerba Buena Island where he served for his remaining three years until he was honorably discharged. Eric returned to Montana in 1992 and began studying for a degree in Environmental Engineering at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana. After marrying Wendy Gay he moved back to Missoula and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in print journalism with a minor in economics from The University of Montana School of Journalism. After college Eric became a technology consultant and web developer. He has founded several startup companies and worked primarily in the areas of technology and small business development.

I checked back on 11/11/2010 only to discover that Amazon had pragmatically removed that pedophile book. However, while scrolling through the results listing from my search for that book, I came across this one. It was less than 5 bucks, in Kindle format, so I decided to read it while taking the train to Chicago. It's a little too early and too jerky a train ride for reading anything more substantive, as twere. But what to my surprise should have happened whilst reading this amateurish missive... I became enthralled by the story. I believe it is 'truth', but I am not 100% assured that the author was not 'on the verge' of abusing his daughter... hey, Eric, I don't know you. I only know what you wrote and I read. You were a little too enthusiastic in describing your homosexual sex with the older guy, and I thought your description of sex with the RC 'Sister' was, well, not believable, just a kid's fantasy. However, I'm not RC so who knows. But as for your stories about the shrinks, the DA, the cops, and the judges... yep, that's been my experience with those types of people... control freaks and ppl on the edges of sanity... just the edges, mind you! So i believe all those stories. I also believe your exwife is a beeatch who is mentally ill, and borderline ... lesbian, probably. If you showed your pp to your daughter, well, I don't know but I think a lot of open minded men have probably done that... at least when the kids are young and you are using the bathroom at the same time as the kids. Why not? My dad did that... he'd sit on the can while all his kids got ready for school. Hey it's FAMILY. He didn't pull out his winkie-winkie and display it when his young daughter said 'why does mr. winkie look so sad?" So if you did that, you had a momentary lapse of 'how to be a polite member of civilized society'. I guess. Back to your book... you are a writer, but you need to get over yourself and hire a good content editor next time you decide to write a book. YOU SHOULD WRITE MORE BOOKS!!! You are a good writer. If you were truly scr*wed by the system, you should SUE. YES. SUE. I would support your right to do that. If you were convicted of a MISDEMEANOR you should NOT be a registered sex offender. You should fight that designation. This country is turning into a gestapo country and as one of the people beaten down by the system, you should fight back. Get yourself a website, you can build it I know! put up paypal, do a mass emailing to let the world know and ask for donations. I'll give the first 50 bucks. See all 1 customer reviews...
