Reviews for "A Motion for Innocence"

4 Stars- from anonymous
A Motion for Innocence deals with the backlash of false allegations levied against someone. It seems to be a pretty serious problem in this country and this book deals with it in no uncertain terms. It is a work of fiction, but mirrors what it must be like to be falsely accused, convicted and sent through the criminal justice system...

I haven't been able to put the book down since I got it. Terrible how one man's life has been ruined.

I couldn't put the book down since I started reading it. I shed tears of frustration as I followed Sean and Nikki through their ordeal. It is just beyond my comprehension how some of the people who are supposed to be making our justice system work are so inept, uncaring and corrupt. I have law enforcement in my family whom I KNOW are good and caring people who are there to protect the innocent. I pray that the Sean and Nikki dealt with are the minority.....I pray Sean and Nikki will someday find the peace in their lives that they deserve.

This is a great read, by a first time author. The story is compelling and quite frightening to see what happens to a family when one of its members is unjustly accused. The story is told in a way that makes you feel like you are sitting with him over a cup of coffee. I recommend this highly.

I just read the book and was sickened by what Sean and his family had to endure simply because this society has gone so crazy. Who in their right mind with any kind of moral fiber would do this to someone? This also shows the sad state our society and legal system has entered.

I read "A Motion for Innocence" and found it to be gut-wrenching, heart-breaking and couragous. It is so easy for someones life to be ruined just by a simple comment. An accusation can change everything. Not only does the main character suffer pain, but the famalies and friends too. I suggest reading this if you really want to know how corrupt our legal system is.

Excellent! This book showed how easy it is to be rail-roaded into a corner with nary a lick of evidence. The only drawback was that it kept me so interested, I felt more tense than relaxed when reading. It was also a little sad and depressing. It does, however, put you directly into the main characters shoes. I cannot imagine going through what Sean West went through. I'm glad I only had to read about it.

5 Stars- from Bestread
A great read from start to finish. It is scary to see how easily someone's life can be destroyed by lies, incompetence, and people too busy to listen to the truth. I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars- Outstanding Read! Keeps u wondering and opens your eyes to many things! (not all good) I plan on reading it a 2nd time! AWESOME 1st book, I am waiting on the next one!!

This well-told story is a harrowing description of one man's journey through our justice system after a vengeful false accusation destroys his previously calm, happy life. It's a nightmare scenario that will make you think twice the next time you read a news story about an arrest or conviction. The trial scenes made me want to scream at the incompetent lawyer and the judge, and make me wonder how many people are currently behind bars because the jury didn't see the whole story. Some of the jail scenes are just as shocking. If even half of the things in this book actually occur in real life, we should all be out protesting our court and prison system right now. Despite all the negatives, the unwavering support of family and friends gets Sean (the lead character) through his ordeal, and provides some lightness to the book.

I like how the author varied his narrative - mostly first person, but also court transcripts, newspaper articles, police reports, etc. Good read, page turner, I recommend this book.

A must read from a new up and coming author

Posted July 5, 2010, 8:24 PM EST: I just finished this book and had a hard time putting it down. It re-inforced how corrupt the legal system can be and how a person is guilty until proven innocent. How frightening to know that one accusation without proof can dismantle someone's life. I look forward to reading more books from this first time author!
